Luminograms OLD
'All the variety, all the charm, all the beauty of life is made up of light and shadow.'
Leo Tolstoy
The Luminogram is created with just directed light and silver gelatin photo paper in a traditional darkroom. It shows the direction and gesture of the hand in much the same way as a painting - however the marks made are chemical reactions on the paper as the light hits them. In a very real sense you are taking something from thin air and briefly capturing its form on paper.
Luminograms are moulded onto paper like pottery. They resemble blown glass, they float, weightless, as fragile as paper lanterns.
